Poinsettia and Pear Cross Stitch Projects

Hello Stitchers!

I am so excited to share about a new collection of patterns! These 4 (plus a free bonus) new designs are a special collaboration with Sherri McConnell for the release of the new fabric line, Poinsettia and Pear, by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda Fabrics. I feel so fortunate to work with Sherri again, and I just love creating cross stitch pieces that coordinate with her beautiful quilt patterns. The matching colors make these the perfect hand-stitched projects to display alongside Poinsettia and Pear Quilts!

Here are a few notes about the new designs. All samples are stitched on 28 count Lugana cloth by Zweigart in the color Antique White. This makes for a great neutral background, very similar to the tone-on-tone white fabric in Poinsettia and Pear. Each sample is stitched with 2 strands of DMC floss, chosen to coordinate with the rich holiday reds, greens, and soft accent colors of the fabric line.

Now for the good stuff… pictures! I am offering bundle price for all 4 patterns (paper or PDF), and each pattern is also available individually. Plus, don’t miss the FREE bonus pattern, which you can find below. These ornaments are finished with the Round Ornament Trio from Chantelle’s 141.

Lovely Cross Stitch

This cute little stitch is so fun and fast to whip up! It shows the versatility of the colors in this fabric line, you can stitch from Christmas to Valentine’s Day and beyond. I wanted to show off little details that you will find in Poinsettia and Pear, including gingham and sweet florals. I finished this design as a pillow with cinched lace edges.

Posies and Pears Cross Stitch

I wanted to try something a little different with this pattern, so besides just regular cross stitch, I added in some decorative straight stitching and french knots. I think they add fun details to the design! I stitched a sample with just 3 “blocks”, but this pattern comes with a bonus chart that has a 9 “block” layout.

Stitch Count: 68w x 34h

Wreath and Pine Cross Stitch

I just love when Sherri designs a Medallion style quilt! They are so fun to turn into a matching cross stitch. I love the different little elements in each of the rows. The trees are my absolute favorite! Even though this design is a little bigger, it stitches up very fast because each design element is so mini.

Stitch Count: 89w x 89h

Whimsy Star Cross Stitch

I saved my favorite for last. One thing I love to do, is take a quilt block, and instead of making it super mini in a cross stitch version of a quilt, I like to make it a bit bigger (almost the size it would be in a quilt). It gives me the opportunity to mimic the beautiful designs in the fabrics. In this design, the center star captures the look of gingham, while the outer star takes on the look of a medium floral. The corners focus more on a large floral, while the background fabric of the “flying geese” is a mini polka dot. I finished this sample in a 7” circle frame from Modern Hoopla.

Stitch Count: 75w x 75h

Thank you for reading! I loved bringing these designs to life and I can’t wait to see how you make them your own!

Happy Stitching!
